How we check facts
We show our work
Every rule and program in the app links back to where we found it, quotes the exact words we relied on, and shows the day we last read it. We work from state statutes, court decisions, state agency pages, and the people who run the programs. If we haven't found a primary source for something yet, the app tells you that instead of guessing.Two people read every source
One person researches a fact and records its source. A second person goes back to that source and reads it again, without seeing the first person's notes. If they disagree, we go to the statute itself, not to someone's summary of it. Before a state goes live, one of us reads the whole evidence file and signs off on it by hand.We keep going back
Things that move fast, like court cases, funding dates, and yearly district lists, get rechecked within weeks. Statutes at least once a year. If a source page disappears or its wording changes, we pull that fact until someone has looked at it again.What Park Day is not. Park Day summarizes public information and links to the sources. It is not legal, tax, or financial advice, and it does not file anything with your state on your behalf. Rules and programs change. Confirm with the linked source or a qualified professional before you act.
Spot something wrong? Email support@itsparkday.com with the state, the item, and the source you think is right. We'll run it through the same two checks as everything else and let you know.
Privacy
Your address and your kids' ages and grade levels live on your iPhone, not on a server somewhere. We don't track you, we don't sell anything, and nothing you enter is used to train anything.
Stays on your deviceYour address or general location, what grade level or age each of your kids is, what you've checked off, and the places you've saved. We don't keep a copy.
iCloud sync, if you turn it onGoes to your own iCloud account through Apple's private database, the same way Notes does. It's encrypted to you, and we can't read it.
Nothing is sold or sharedWe don't sell your data, share it with advertisers, or hand it to anyone else. The only lookups the app makes are public ones, like finding your school district, and none of them are tied to you.
We don't watch what you doNo trackers, no ads, and no profile of you or your kids. We don't know which cards you open or which parks you save, and we'd like to keep it that way.
About
Park Day was made by a brother and sister team. Jennifer has homeschooled each of her four kids and spent years learning to navigate the complex environment of homeschooling. Christopher has no kids and has never homeschooled a day in his life, but he knows how to build things, and he wanted to build something for Jennifer and the community she and her family care so much about.
We chose the name Park Day because every homeschooler knows that learning and enrichment don't have to happen in a classroom. Nature is our greatest teacher.
